one station.
The maximum station count permitted on a ring is determined by the
cable type. A ring utilizing STP IBM Type 1 cable or UTP Levels 4 or 5
can have a maximum station count of 250. For a ring utilizing UTP Level
3 cable the maximum station count is 144 stations.
Ring speed has no affect on the station count.

Cable Lengths

Trunk Cabling
The table below shows the maximum permitted trunk cable lengths for
the main and Backup Rings using STP Type 1 cabling. Wrapping of the
ring at the Ring-In and/or Ring-Out ports of the RingBuilder does NOT
affect these values, including situations when the RingBuilder has lost
power.

Lobe Cables
The maximum lobe lengths permitted in token rings are shown in the
table below. The values refer to the longest path that may be found in
a token ring without passing through any active device, such as a
station, a bridge, a powered MAU or a RingBuilder.
Use Table 9-2 below if you connect through a 3C18200 or 3C18201
MAU.
Use Table 9-3 below if you connect through a 3C18202 AMAU.
