Frames enter the local ring section through the Ring-In port of the
RingBuilder, and then travel via the MSH backplane to the MAU in slot
10 passing via port 1 (the top port) on the MAU to port 12 (the bottom
port). The frames next pass to the MAU in slot 7, and then onto the
MAU in slot 1. Having left the bottom port of the MAU in slot 1, the
frames pass back to the RingBuilder and out to the external part of the
ring via the Ring-Out port.

Extending the Local Ring Section

The RingBuilder Module has a Ring-In port and Ring-Out port to
facilitate connection to token ring sections external to the chassis.
These ring sections may be located in other MSH chassis or comprise
other compatible token ring systems.
This section describes the different operating modes for the
RingBuilder and the Ring-In and Ring-Out ports.

RingBuilder Modes

The RingBuilder has two operating modes: NORMAL and REPEATER.
