4.14.1
MECHANICALLY RELEASING THE PARKING BRAKE ON
THE CARRARO AXLE
Equipment required:
8 mm Allen key
3/8" reversible ratchet wrench + 3" extension
Emergency procedures:
Attention: IMMOBILISE THE WHEELS. Failure to do so can be very
dangerous or even fatal for the operator: in fact, the vehicle
could move on its own.
Immobilise all four wheels to stop the vehicle from moving once
the brake has been released. To disable the parking brake it is
necessary to use an 8 mm Allen key. Mark the head of the screws
to count the number of times each screw needs to be turned
during the procedure. Lie down under the axle and identify the
six release screws (three for each side) at the base of the axle.
Screw the brake release screws in alternately by a 1/2 turn
clockwise (1), (2) and (3) until you begin to feel a certain amount
of resistance.
Alternately screw in screws (1), (2) and (3) one 1/2 turn at a time
for 5 ÷ 5.5 turns. Move out from under the vehicle and have any
staff not directly involved in the operations leave the
surrounding area. Carefully remove the blocking wedges from
the four wheels and drag the vehicle to a safe place. Block the
four wheels again and continue performing the necessary
operations.
With the mechanically released negative brakes, the machine is without any braking
system!!
