4. There are five tabs along the top of the screen related to scanner settings.
The Default Scan type tab allows you to specify the type of account field the scanner will
l
search for when it scans a barcode that does not contain a prefix.
The Accounting Prefixes tab allows you to use barcodes to automatically enter information
l
on the Run Mail screen (for example, the account name).
The Concatenate Scans tab contains the characters you can use to join multiple barcodes
l
into a single scan.
The Barcode Auto-Enter tab allows you to turn on/off the ability of the system to
l
automatically enter data scanned from a barcode into the SendPro P screen without forcing
the operator to press the Enter key after the barcode is completely scanned.
The Scanner Diagnostics tab allows you to verify what is actually being read by the
l
scanner in the barcode without having to run mail.
Setting the default scan type
The Default Scan Type tab allows you to specify the type of account field the scanner will search for
when it scans the barcode.
1. Select Settings under Mailing on the Home screen.
2. Select System from the list on the left side of the screen.
3. Select Scanner Settings.
4. Select the Default Scan Type tab. Select one of the following account fields that you want the
scanner to search for when scanning the barcodes.
None - Use this option if you do not want a default account type or if you will be scanning
l
multiple fields.
Account name - This can be any name you assign to an account, sub account or sub sub
l
account. For more information, refer to Account Attributes.
Account code - This is a unique code that you can assign to identify the account, sub
l
account or sub sub account. For more information, refer to Account Attributes.
Job name - A job can contain set values for such items as the account name, postage
l
amount, class, carrier, a special service, or mode such as Attached Scale or Differential
weighing. For more information, refer to All About Jobs.
Job ID 1and Job ID 2 - Your accounting system can track mail runs using Job IDs. Refer to
l
All About Job IDs for more information.
Setting the accounting prefixes
If you need to scan multiple account fields, you need to create barcodes that contain a 1 or 2 digit
prefix. The prefix identifies the field you are scanning.
