Preparing to measure

This demonstration assumes a basic familiarity with the process of measuring
features, the product controls and indicators, and the types of information
presented on the display.
Power-on the device
Power-on the device
After switching the power on, or after a power failure, the power-up screen will
be displayed.
Further information:
Reference marks
If the encoders used with your system include reference marks, you may be
instructed to cross the reference marks on each axis before the DRO screen is
displayed.
Working without reference marks
You can also use the device without crossing the reference marks.
To exit the reference mark evaluation routine and continue without reference
marks:
Press the cancel key
Enter the Supervisor password
7.2

Establishing a repeatable machine zero

A message will be displayed asking you to cross reference marks or enter hard-
stop axis reference positions if the device was configured to establish a machine
zero on power-up.
The machine zero is used by the device to apply error correction data as
measurements are performed.
Establishing a machine zero with encoder reference marks
To establish a repeatable machine zero with encoder reference marks:
Move the stage to have encoder reference mark crossings recognized on each
axis
48
It is assumed that operators have a basic understanding of part fixturing
and the geometric probing techniques required for their coordinate
measuring devices.

Reference marks must be used if SLEC error correction will be
performed.
