Setup | Configuring encoders
External 0
Some encoders include a button for zeroing the axis. The External 0 parameters
enable axes to be zeroed remotely from the encoder zero buttons.
Slew limit
Rapid encoder motion can result in erroneous measurements. For some encoders
there is no mechanism to determine how fast the operator is moving the encoder
reader head. Slew limit is a function that detects if an operator is moving too
fast for the encoder reader head to correctly read values on the encoder. Slew
Limit allows you to set a threshold value for the rate of change in position of
the encoder. Error messages are displayed on the DRO screen if the encoder
measurements change at a rate higher than the threshold value.
Formula:
Slew rate limit = maximum speed / encoder resolution
Example:
an encoder resolution of 0.001 mm, a slew rate limit of 50,000 will
result in warning messages at encoder motion rates higher than 50 mm per
second.
To configure encoder settings in the Misc screen:
Highlight the Misc menu
Highlight the X External 0, Y External 0, Z External 0 or, Q External 0
parameter
Press the Yes or No soft key to enable or disable external axis zeroing by the
remote encoder
Highlight the Slew Limit field
Enter the slew rate limit (increments of resolution per second)
Press the finish key
The parameters are saved and the Setup menu is displayed
