measurements
7.7

Selecting a datum

To select a datum:
Press the ABS/INC soft key to toggle between absolute and incremental datums
7.8

Zeroing datums

The system simultaneously uses 2 reference datums for measurements. One
is fixed (absolute), while the other can be redefined (incremental) during the
measurement session to make incremental measurements.
Reference points for absolute and incremental measurements can be set by
zeroing the Abs (absolute) and Inc (incremental) datums.
7.8.1

Absolute datum

Absolute measurements are measured in reference to the absolute datum. The
absolute datum is defined as the origin (0,0), and should be set at the beginning of
each measurement session.
To set the absolute datum:
Move the stage to target the point you want to define as the origin, or absolute
datum point
Press the ABS/INC soft key, if necessary, to select ABS in the lower left corner
of the display
Press the axes keys to zero-out the measurement axes on the DRO screen
7.8.2

Incremental datum

Incremental measurements are made between any reference point and some
other point. Incremental measurements are facilitated by the incremental datum
that can be zeroed at any point on or off the part without changing the absolute
datum.
To set the incremental datum:
Move the stage to target the point you want to define as the incremental
datum point
Press the ABS/INC soft key, if necessary, to select INC in the lower left corner of
the display
Press the axes keys to zero-out the measurement axes on the DRO screen
