Encoder errors

Encoder errors are indicated by the presence of graphic bars across the DRO
screen instead of numbers.
Encoder errors can be caused by a few conditions shown in this table:

Damaged encoder

Misaligned encoder
reader head
Electrical noise on the
encoder input
Stage (encoder) veloci-
ty too high
Faulty encoder input

Corrective action
Repair or replace the encoder.
Recalibrate the reader head.
Verify that the earth ground provided by the product
power source is in good condition and is connected to
the power system ground.
Verify that the encoder cable is shielded and that the
shield is connected to ground at the product end.
Verify that the reader head is not generating electrical
noise.
Restrict stage velocity. If the velocity required for error-
free operation is slow, recalibrate the reader head.
Repair or replace the encoder cable or seek the assis-
tance of your encoder distributor.
