Secure the extension spring to the end of the threaded end of the cable and the vehicle frame.
6.
Adjust the brake cable equalizer. See Front Park Brake Cable Adjustment – Bell Crank System on page 6-27.
PARK BRAKE EQUALIZER REMOVAL – CABLE ONLY SYSTEM
1.
Chock the wheels and release the park brake.
2.
Remove the spring from the threaded adjustment rod on the cable end.
3.
Note the orientation of and remove the two nuts, cone washer and cup washer from the threaded adjustment rod.
4.
Remove the rear park brake cables from the equalizer and remove the equalizer.
PARK BRAKE EQUALIZER INSTALLATION – CABLE ONLY SYSTEM
1.
Secure the equalizer to the ends of the rear park brake cables.
2.
Insert the threaded adjustment rod through the equalizer.
3.
Install the cup washer against the equalizer followed by the cone washer and two nuts in their original positions
and orientation. Tighten the hex nut, closest to the equalizer, until the cable is taut.
4.
Secure the spring to the end of the threaded adjustment rod and the chassis.
5.
Adjust the brake cable equalizer. See Front Park Brake Cable Adjustment – Cable Only System on page 6-28.
