Overview

P
RIORITIZING
This chapter describes how 3Com Network Director is used to prioritize
network traffic on the 3Com devices on your network.
By enabling prioritization, you can specify the importance of certain types
of network traffic (such as traffic to and from database servers or NBX
phone traffic) over others. This can ensure that important traffic on a
configured device flows quicker than other traffic and is less likely to be
dropped in times of congestion.
Prioritizing network traffic also enables you to ban certain types of
network traffic (such as games traffic or connections to streaming media
servers). This is called blocking. If a configured device sees traffic that has
been blocked, the blocked traffic is prevented from being transmitted
over your network.
