Decreasing the time period that historical data is stored for will reduce
the size of the event log and therefore the disk space used by 3Com
Network Director on your PC.
If you do not wish to store monitoring state histories at all for events then
you can clear the check box for the Store history before and after events
for: setting.
The Maintain monitor history for: field must be set to at least as long a
time period as the time period that event history is stored for, since 3Com
Network Director uses monitor history to generate the history stored with
logged events. 3Com Network Director will prevent you from setting a
lower time period, and will disable event history completely if you disable
monitor history.
Managing Event
Event ageing is the process whereby old events and events marked for
Ageing
deletion are removed from the events database. This clears out events
that are no longer relevant or that have been marked for deletion, and
prevents the events database from becoming too large.
