CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES

CYLINDER COMPRESSION TEST

Remove the maintenance lid (page 3-4).
Warm up the engine to normal operating tempera-
ture.
Stop the engine and remove the spark plug cap and
spark plug (page 4-7).
Install a compression gauge into the spark plug
hole.
Open the throttle all the way and crank the engine

CYLINDER HEAD COVER REMOVAL

Remove the following:
– maintenance lid (page 3-4)
– luggage box (page 3-5)
– grab rail (page 3-5)
– body cover (page 3-6)
Disconnect the spark plug cap.
Remove the following:
– bolt and spark plug wire clamp
– bolt and water hose clamp
– two bolts and special washers
– cylinder head cover
– rubber seal
