1.9.1

Gear Pump Inspection Procedure

If the pump is adequately maintained, it will provide a satisfactory output. If the pump is
noisy, perform the following inspections.

HE RETURN PRESSURE OF THE OIL FLOW FROM THE PUMP TO THE RESERVOIR MUST
NOT EXCEED
To inspect the pump:
1. Ensure that the parking brake is applied and the vehicle is tagged out for
maintenance purposes, see
2. Start the engine, engage the hydraulic pump.

HE PUMP SHOULD TURN FREELY WITHOUT ANY EXCESSIVE NOISE OR VIBRATIONS
3. Inspect the connections and underneath the pump for any oil leak.
4. If there is no electrical supply, refer to the electrical schematics provided with the
truck.
1.9.2

Main Relief Valve Pressure Adjustment

It is recommended to verify the pressure setting once every month to prevent damage to
the equipment and make sure it operates as efficiently as possible. If the pressure is not
at the recommended setting, the main relief valve needs to be readjusted. Refer to the
pressure adjustment table for proper settings according to the year the truck is
manufactured.
Most of the hydraulic valve sections operate at 2000 psi except for those corresponding
to a Maximizer and a plastic crusher. For details, refer to the hydraulic system
schematics.
