System Power-On

Power on the laser system and connect the optical fibers by following the steps below.
1. Verify that the laser device is connected to a suitable AC electrical outlet.
2. Ensure that the emergency stop button isn't engaged. (See Figure 1, page 1-5.)
3. Turn the MAINS switch on. (See Figure 3, page 1-6.)
4. Turn the key switch on. (See Figure 2, page 1-6.)
5. Lift the laser aperture cover and connect the holmium laser fiber to the laser. (See Figure 1,
page 1-5.)
NOTE:
Do not over-tighten the laser fiber. The connector only needs to be finger tightened
for proper operation.
6. After a few seconds, the information bar on the control panel screen will display "STANDBY. "
(See Figure 4, page 1-25.)
7. Press the ready button. (See Figure 6, page 1-32.) The "READY" progress bar will take about
two seconds to fill.
8. Once the "READY" bar is fully lit, the information bar will display "READY to lase. " This indicates
that the laser system is operating normally. (See Figure 4, page 1-25.)

Checking the Optical Fibers

The laser system includes a low-power green aiming diode to make it possible to identify the
target during operation. This aiming diode can be used to verify the integrity of the optical fiber.
Follow the instructions below to verify the integrity of the optical fiber.
1. Remove the optical fibers from their sterile packages using aseptic technique and control
them to be sure that no damage occurs.
2. Plug the fiber in and check the shape of the green spot. The intensity of the aiming beam can
be adjusted from the control display.
3. If the green spot from the aiming beam is well rounded, the fiber is good and working
properly.
4. If the green spot from the aiming beam is misshapen, blurred, low in intensity, or missing, the
fiber may be damaged. Remove and replace the fiber, or contact your service representative.
WARNING!
appropriate laser safety eyewear.
WARNING
securing the fiberoptics, or failing to follow the fiberoptics installation procedure may
lead to damage to the fiber or delivery system and may result in harm to the patient or
operator. Refer to pages 1-18 - 1-19 for additional hazards.
