With the GrayScale entry in the registry a single 8 bpp format can be selected.

(linear or gamma corrected).

With the Start entry in the registry the entitlement to start and operate video and RGB is set. The Start entry is
located under another path then the other entries:

Effective after stopping the display driver, after rebooting
Set to 2 the drivers of the video input cards and RGB I
users to display video or RGB respectively.
Set to 3 only a user with at least Power User Rights is able to start the needed drivers.
Set to 4 disables the driver of the input cards.
This is applicable only for Windows NT. Windows 2000/XP offers independently of the user access rights full
access to the displaying functionality.
