Potential Equalization Connection

General Information
The function of the potential equalization conductor is:
• To equalize potentials between different metal parts that can be touched simultaneously.
• To reduce differences of potential that can occur between medical electrical devices and
conductive parts of other objects during operation.
NOTE: A potential equalization connection to the system is optional. When connecting a potential
equalization conductor, an ME System is created.
How to Connect Potential Equalization Cables
Perform this task before using the system and while the system is still turned off.

Plug potential equalization cable into potential equalization port on the Medical Comput-
er Unit.
Connect potential equalization cable to an equivalent wall outlet or an equipotential bond-
ing terminal.
Plug potential equalization cable into potential equalization port on the Connection Unit.
Connect potential equalization cable to an equivalent wall outlet or an equipotential bond-
ing terminal.
