MCU Connections

MCU Connections
Before You Begin
Read all user guide documentation carefully before connecting any equipment to Buzz
Navigation (Ceiling-Mounted).
Mains Power Cables
The mains power cables may only be exchanged by Brainlab or authorized service personnel.
Do not tug or pull at cables when establishing or opening a connection, but always pull at the
connector. Otherwise, the interface or connector might be broken and live parts become
accessible.
Ensure that there is sufficient slack when connecting cables. Do not strain or place the attached
cables under tension.
Attach cables carefully, ensuring that no one will trip over them.
Restrictions Connecting Equipment to Panels
Warning
Only connect equipment that is specified by Brainlab or where Brainlab claims
compatibility with the Buzz Navigation (Ceiling-Mounted) to the device.
Buzz Navigation (Ceiling-Mounted) is not intended for real time video distribution. A real time
critical source (e.g., an endoscope, must remain directly connected to its dedicated display or
optical system).
For critical applications, it must be possible to make information available independently of Buzz
Navigation (Ceiling-Mounted), (e.g., bypassing Buzz Navigation (Ceiling-Mounted) and
connecting the signal directly to a monitor).
Warning
Additional equipment connected to medical electrical equipment must comply with the
respective IEC or ISO standards (e.g., IEC 60950 for data processing equipment and
IEC60601-1 for medical equipment). Furthermore, all configurations shall comply with the
requirements for medical electrical systems (see IEC 60601-1-1 or clause 16 of the 3rd
edition of IEC 60601-1, respectively). Anyone connecting additional equipment to medical
electrical equipment configures a medical system and is therefore responsible that the
system complies with the requirements for medical electrical systems. Please note that
local laws take priority over the above-mentioned requirements. If in doubt, consult your
local representative or the technical service department.
Warning
Connecting electrical equipment to multiple socket outlets effectively leads to creating an
ME SYSTEM, and can result in a reduced level of safety.

• CD-ROM
