5.2.1 Plate name convention

Each plate name listed on the L
physical plate and well specifications, fluid characteristics, and other factors
that enable the Echo liquid handler to accurately and reliably dispense as
little as 2.5 nL of sample to every well in the microplate.
Source Plates
Labcyte names every source plate with familiar plate naming convention,
such as 384PP and 1536LDV, and abbreviated liquid types, such as AQ and
DMSO, to help operators identify the plate names. This section describes
the convention we use.
Structure of the source plate name:
No of wells + plate specs. _ liquid type _ key feature _ other features
Example 1: 1536LDV_DMSO_HT
(1536-well low dead volume _ DMSO _ high throughput)
This fluid type is designed for high throughput (HT) dispensing, which
uses a faster transfer rate for higher volume or where precise droplet
placement is not required.

Both 384-well LDV and 1536-well LDV plates are manufactured by
Labcyte to meet tight plate tolerances for lower volume applications.
Example 2: 384PP_AQ_BP2
(384-well+polypropylene _ aqueous_buffer _ 2nd generation vol. range)
This fluid type is available in Echo 550/555 models that ship with
software version 2.4 and later. Volume range is 15μL to 65 μL.
Example 2: 384PP_AQ_CP, 384PP_AQ_GP2
(384-well+polypropylene _ aqueous_buffer _ 1st generation vol. range)
384PP_AQ_CP (new in Echo Server 2.4): This fluid type uses Dynamic

of the viscosity and surface tension of the fluid in the well. This has
application in transferring protein crystallography reagents and other
aqueous fluids that may not be transferrable by other means.
384PP_AQ_GP2 (new in Echo Server 2.4): This fluid type uses Dynamic
Fluid Analysis to dynamically adjust power based on measurements of
the viscosity of the fluid in the well. This has application in transferring
enzymes and other protein solutions containing between 25 to 50%
glycerol. (Lower concentrations with glycerol are generally transferable
with 384PP_AQ_CP2).
