2) The ignition current causes gas generator to generate highly
pressurized gas.

3) The gas increases the pressure in accumulator.

4) The pressure pushes out clutch key which then becomes en-
gaged with clutch gear.
5) The generated gas increases the pressure in the cylinder as
well.
6) The pressure causes the clutch gear and rotor to rotate as one
unit. Then the drum meshed with rotor also rotates and thereby
rolls in the webbing.

7) When gas pressure force to turn the rotor and tensile force ap-
plied to the webbing become balanced, retracting webbing
stops. While the rotor is turning, generated gas (nitrogen gas)
is exhausted from retractor assembly.
8) The driver and front passenger move forward due to inertia
force and seat belts are pulled out.
9) ELR operates to lock seat belts.
