6.3 Messages in the Chromeleon Audit Trail

When the fraction collector is operated with Chromeleon, messages are displayed in the
Chromeleon Audit Trail.
The following table lists fraction collector-related messages along with appropriate remedial
actions. In addition to the messages in the table, other messages may appear. In this case, note
the exact wording of the message and contact Thermo Fisher Scientific Service for Dionex
HPLC Products if you are unable to eliminate the problem.

Can't open communication channel
Serial Device Driver\COM2.
Command for function Connect
failed.
Command for function Rack
failed.
Command to change property
TubePosition failed.
Device is not remote.
Error P0040: Value out of range.
Internal error: A required
parameter was missing.
Invalid enumerated value 3.
Parameter TubePosition value
exceeded its allowed range. Set to
closest valid value 384.

Probable Cause
The fraction collector is not
correctly configured in
Chromeleon.
The USB port on the computer is
not ready for operation.
Check the configuration for the correct COM port selection
(→ section 3.5.2; page 40).
The AFC-3000 cannot connect to Chromeleon. See
Communication Problems (→ page 59).
Verify that you have configured the racks in the appropriate
order, and that you have not configured more racks than can be
installed (→ page 49).
You have entered a tube position that exceeds the number of
positions on the installed racks. Verify that you have defined a
valid rack type. Enter a valid tube position.
The AFC-3000 is not connected to Chromeleon. Execute the
Connect command.
Verify that you have entered values that are within the allowed
range.
Verify that you have defined a legal rack type for all used rack
positions, and NotUsed for unused rack positions (→ page 49).
Verify that you have entered valid rack types only (→ page 49).
You have entered a tube position that exceeds the number of 384.
Enter a valid tube position. This error appears only with the use
of the 96Pos rack type.

Check the configuration for the correct

(→ section 3.5.2; page 40).
Check the USB port on the computer.
