5.2.3 Setting the Rack Configuration

Define the installed rack types in Chromeleon. It is not recommended to define a rack type
in a program file.

1. Open the Commands dialog box (→ page 46).
2. Click the plus sign beside AFC.
3. Click Rack. In the Rack1 to Rack6 boxes, select the installed racks. If you have less
than six racks installed, select NotUsed for all unused rack positions. Note the
following restrictions:
All racks have to be installed and defined following the order from Rack1 to Rack6.
Unused rack positions (= NotUsed) must always be the last positions. For example,
it is not allowed to set NotUsed for Rack1 and then select a rack type for Rack2.
Observe the rack layout scheme (example for four 96 well plates see Fig. 18; details
for all rack types see page 31).
Racks for 96 well plates must not be mixed with any other rack types.
4. Click Execute.
Operating Instructions
The rack configuration must not be changed during fraction
collection, or during the course of a program file or sequence.
