Measuring S-Parameters using a Two-Port Calibration

Enter the Measurement Parameters

1. Press the following keys on the analyzer:

or
Factory Preset
)
PRESET
MEAS 1
2. Press the softkey for any type of S-parameter measurement.
This example measurement uses the default instrument parameters for
NOTE
the S-parameter measurement you selected. If your particular
measurement requires different parameters (such as frequency range,
source power level, number of data points, and sweeptime), enter them
now.

Perform a User Two-Port Calibration

This example describes how to perform a two-port calibration. This
calibration uses known standards to correct for directivity, source match,
load match, and frequency response errors when using narrowband
detection. To correct for errors caused by crosstalk, refer to the definition
of a user two-port calibration in
Chapter
6.
When you perform a two-port calibration, the analyzer performs
correction at each data point across the selected frequency band. The
default number of data points per sweep is 201, but you can select any
number between 3 and 1601. Interpolation recalculates the error
correction array for reduced frequency spans. If the frequency span is
increased, the calibration is invalidated and the default two-port
calibration is automatically restored.
To perform a two-port calibration, you will need one of the following
calibration kits depending on the nominal impedance of your analyzer:
