Using Buddy Lists

Monitoring the status of contacts in a buddy list is an optional feature that your

system administrator enables, and your system may not support it.
A bu d d y list is a list of u sers/ d evices w hose status—or presence—you can
m onitor. You r contacts u p d ate their p resence setting, su ch as Be right back,
Ou t to lu nch, or Bu sy, and you can view their status in real tim e from you r
phone's Bu d d y Statu s screen. If you like, you can block others from
m onitoring your status.

Updating Presence Settings

You r p resence setting ind icates you r statu s (either online, busy, be right back,
aw ay, ou t to lunch, offline, or d o not d isturb). Upd ate you r p resence setting so
that other users can m onitor you r status from their phones.
T o change your presence setting:
1. Do one of the follow ing:
— Press

— From the id le screen, press the M yStat soft key.
The My Status screen d isplays.
2. Scroll to the statu s you w ant, and then press
Online.
3. Press
The follow ing figu re show s w hat the id le screen looks like w hen you set you r
statu s as Busy. If you set you r status as Online (the d efault status), the presence
status d oes not d isplay on the screen.
