Sending PTT Broadcasts
Before you can send a PTT broad cast, you need to choose a channel to
broad cast on. Or, you can p ress and hold the Talk soft key to im m ediately
begin broad casting on Channel 1, the d efault channel.
You can change you r d efau lt channel to any channel you w ant (see
the Defau lt Channel on p age 43). When you change the d efault channel, you're
au tom atically subscribed to it.
T o send a PTT broadcast:
1. Press the Talk soft key to select a channel to broad cast on.
To automatically send a PTT broadcast on the default channel, press and hold the
Talk soft key, and then go to step 4.
2. From the PTT Channels List screen, select the channel to send the
broad cast on.
The list d isplays the d efault channel, the m ost recent channel you sent a
broad cast on, and other channels you can broad cast on.
3. To start the broad cast, press and hold the Talk soft key. Be su re to press
the Talk soft key throu ghout the entire broad cast.
You'll hear a transmitting beep, and the phone w ill d isp lay the channel
inform ation, su ch as the channel label.
4. Begin speaking.
If you release the Talk soft key while you're sending the broadcast, the broadcast
temporarily stops and enters a 10 second waiting period. During this period, the
channel remains open to give people a chance to reply. At any time during the
waiting period, you can resume your broadcast by pressing and holding the
Talk soft key. If no one broadcasts during the waiting period, the channel closes
and the broadcast ends.
5. When you finish you r broad cast, d o one of the follow ing:
— Release the Talk soft key.
— Press the En d PTT soft key.
After you p ress the En d PTT soft key, you can im m ed iately initiate
another broad cast on another channel, even if the p reviou s broad cast is
still in its w aiting period .
