Teldat S.A.
The idletime (or idle) and Icpecho (or echo) parameters are particularly interesting when using PPPoE to connect
the router to the Teldat-3Ge-USB.
• The idletime parameter allows you to set the idle time for the PPPoE session in the Teldat-3Ge-USB server. If a
PPPoE session is established and no packets have been received during this time, the server will drop the PPPoE
session. idletime=N where N is the desired idletime in seconds. Default idletime is 60 seconds, the equivalent of
losing 6 LCP ECHO-REQ packets.
Note
To ensure that idletime works correctly and to enable the Teldat-3Ge-USB to detect link failures, en-
able the option to send LCP ECHO-REQ packets in the router's dialer interface (router's keepalive
command).
• The lcpecho parameter enables the option to send LCP ECHO-REQ packets to the mobile network. The Teldat-
3Ge-USB with PPPoE, intercepts these packets and responds to them without sending them to the mobile network
to avoid billing (default). The lcpecho=yes parameter disables said option.
Option 43 configuration parameters are the same as those already defined in section 2.4 in this manual.
Note
You must substitute the values in the example for the appropriate values in the specific application.
For version 01.02, option 43 must be the same as antenna without additional parameters.
Please pay particular attention when entering the PIN for the SIM you're going to insert into the Teldat-
3Ge-USB. If you enter the wrong PIN, the SIM may block.
If you enter the PIN incorrectly, the Teldat-3Ge-USB will not try it again in the SIM until the PIN has
been changed or the device rebooted.

3.1.3 PPPoE

So the router establishes a PPPoE session with the Teldat-3Ge, first enable said PPPoE ( pppoe enable group
global command) on the router's Ethernet interface. Said interface connects to the Teldat-3Ge-USB. Subsequently,
the client parameters are established: name of the connected PPPoE service: ethant for the Teldat-3Ge-USB.
interface FastEthernet0/0
ip address 172.24.78.29 255.255.0.0
ip nat inside
ip virtual-reassembly
duplex auto
speed auto
pppoe enable group global
pppoe-client dial-pool-number 1 service-name "ethant"
An access list for the dialer interface is also defined.
dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

3.2 Configuring a CISCO router with L2TP

Use the virtual-ppp interface (for Cisco this is client-initiated PPP configuration) to connect a Cisco router to the
WWAN mobile network through a Teldat-3Ge-USB with L2TP
Note
We recommend using version IOS 12.4.15 and above for Cisco devices. From this version on, opera-
tions with the Teldat-3Ge-USB can be guaranteed.
For those using Cisco routers with L2TP, there are some practical configuration examples of the Teld-
