2 Configuring in Teldat mode
configurations with multiple Teldat-3Ge-USB and Cisco routers.
• "timezone=", or "tz=", command to specify the time zone, daylight saving time (DST) and standard time and
when to switch DST on and off. By default, the device is configured for the Paris/Madrid time zone with the follow-
ing value: CET-1CEST,M3.5.0/2,M10.5.0/3 . This command is available from version 1.09 onwards. The specifica-
tion of the time zone value complies with IEEE Std 1003.1 section 8.3. Let's consider the default value:
• idletime=T, or idle=T, configures the number of seconds a PPPoE session can remain idle. If during a session no
new packets are received within this time, the Teldat-3Ge-USB shuts down the session and the call with the mo-
bile network. Default idle timeout is 60 seconds, the equivalent of losing 6 LCP ECHO-REQ packets. The option to
send LCP-ECHO REQ packets should be enabled in the router so the PPPoE operates correctly. This is only rel-
evant for PPPoE.
• "lcpecho=yes, or echo=yes, disables the option to intercept LCP ECHO-REQ packets in PPPoE mode. Thus the
LCP ECHO-REQ packets sent by the router would be sent to the mobile network. By default the Teldat-3Ge-USB
intercepts the LCP ECHO-REQ packets and responds with LCP ECHO-REP packets. This is only relevant for
PPPoE.
• "vlanid=N", or "vid=N", in a scenario that uses VLAN, assigns an identifier to the VLAN the Ethernet subinterface
(created in the Teldat-3Ge-USB) will belong to.
• "vlanip=AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD", or "vip= AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD", assigns the Teldat-3Ge-USB Ethernet subinter-
face IP address in a scenario with VLAN.
• "vlanmask=AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD", or "vmask=AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD", configures the Teldat-3Ge-USB Ethernet
subinterface subnet mask in a scenario with VLAN.
• "regdenied=1" , or "regd=1", enables a feature to switch the 3G module radio interface off for 5 seconds if the
network denies registration first time round (registration DENIED). This allows the module to reregister on the 3G
network.

2.5 L2TP

The router opens (LAC) the L2TP session with the Teldat-3Ge-USB, which acts as the L2TP server (LNS). The
router sets up an L2TP Pseudowire tunnel with the Teldat-3Ge-USB and establishes three sessions over the tunnel
for communication between both devices. An L2TP Pseudowire tunnel enables communication between two devices
over a network, LAN, so interfaces associated with the Pseudowire tunnel essentially behave as if they were physic-
ally linked through a direct connection.
The number of L2TP sessions created must equal the number of rcellular interfaces created (in this case three). One
for monitoring, one for PPP data and the other for firmware updates for the Teldat-3Ge-USB WWAN modem.
The name of the pseudowires must not be changed in the router configuration, ETH-ANT-MON , ETH-ANT-PPP and
ETH-ANT-UPG, as these are configured in the Teldat-3Ge-USB.

- CET (Central European Time) time zone identifier for standard time. The -1
value indicates that at this time, one hour must be deducted to obtain UTC time
(Coordinated Universal Time).
- CEST (Central European Summer Time) time zone identifier for DST. It is not
followed by a number (+N nor –N) since it coincides with UTC.
- M3.5.0/2 indicates the change from CET to CEST occurs on the Sunday (0) of
the last week (5) of March (3) at 2:00 am (/2).
- M10.5.0/3 indicates the change from CEST back to CET takes place on the
Sunday (0) of the last week (5) of October (10) at 3:00 am (/3).
