Backing Up and Restoring Configurations

Two new commands allow you to store a configuration file for the SSU-2000e to a
TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) server. This file contains configuration data
only, and not the system's firmware. The file is transferred and stored in binary
format to prevent corruption of the file during transfer. The TFTP port is 69.
Note: The backup file does not include the configured IP address and
serial port baud rate. This prevents the connection from possibly
crashing when restoring the data.
Backing Up the Configuration
This section describes how to back up the configuration files in the SSU-2000e
using ICS and TL1 commands.
Using ICS Commands
1. Connect a computer to an ICS port on the SSU-2000e and log in using an
Administrator-level user name and password, as described in
SSU-2000e, on page 102.
2. Type
config backup ipaddr [filename]
the IP address of the TFTP server and
name for the backup file. If you do not enter the
file SSUCONFIG is stored in the root directory of the TFTP server.
An example command is:
config backup tftp://192.92.78.179/Symmetricom/backup/ssu2000e_July11_2006.bin
Using TL1 Commands
1. Connect a computer to port 2000 on the SSU-2000e and log in using an
Administrator-level user name and password, as described in
SSU-2000e, on page 102.
2. Type
CPY-MEM:::123::,,[tomem],todev;
name you wish to use for the configuration file, and
TFTP server. If you leave the
