1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the left side of the Model 8435.
2. The cover is held in place by six screws, as shown in Figure 7-1. Remove the covers for these screws and remove the
screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
3. Remove the cover. The battery pack is now visible.
4. The battery pack fits snugly in the compartment. Carefully remove the battery pack; this may require gently prying the
battery pack from the compartment with a screwdriver or similar implement.
5. The battery pack is connected to the instrument with wires attached to a connector. The connector is plugged into a
slot within the compartment. Carefully unplug the connector from the slot.
6. Install the replacement battery pack by plugging its connector into the slot, and then placing the battery within the
compartment.
Replace the front cover, including the screw covers.
NOTE: The SD-Card is accessible when the battery is removed from the compartment.
7.4 CLEANING
Disconnect the instrument from any source of electricity.
■ Use a soft cloth, lightly dampened with soapy water
■ Wipe with a damp cloth and then dry with a dry cloth
■ Do not splash water directly on the clamp
■ Do not use alcohol, solvents or hydrocarbons

NOTE: Updating embedded software or firmware resents the configuration and erases all data stored on the instrument. As a
precaution, you should always save stored data to a PC before performing any software or firmware updates.
