Chapter 6. Managing nodes

Topics in this chapter describe how to manage nodes on the ProtecTIER system.
The ProtecTIER system supports one-node systems.

Adding and removing nodes from ProtecTIER Manager

The topics in this section describe how to add a node, a subnetwork node, and
remove a node from the ProtecTIER system using the ProtecTIER Manager.
Note: This section provides instructions for adding and removing nodes when
using the TS7650G.
Adding a node registers the node IP address and port number with the instance of
ProtecTIER Manager at your workstation. Similarly, removing a node removes the
node registration from ProtecTIER Manager at that workstation.

v For a Windows-based ProtecTIER Manager workstation, run the ProtecTIER
Manager application:
Click Start > All Programs > IBM > ProtecTIER Manager > IBM
ProtecTIER Manager.
v For a Linux-based ProtecTIER Manager workstation, click the icon for
ProtecTIER Manager on the Desktop or the location of the shortcut specified
during the installation.
The ProtecTIER Manager window is displayed.

node dialog box is displayed, prompting you for the IP address and Port
number of the node that you want to add.
Navigation pane and the Login button is displayed in the View pane.
Note: Do not change the port number of the node unless directed to do so by
trained ProtecTIER specialist.
