8) Removing Timing Belt and Pulley

Turn timing pulley 1 clockwise to bring "●" mark a of belt

guide to "●" mark b of cylinder block, and check that "●1"
mark c of cam shaft pulley 2 and "▲" mark d of cylinder
head are aligned with each other.
No.1 piston is to be at top dead center of
compression stroke.
Lay down timing pulley nut 3 lock washer's tab.

Attach crankshaft holder 4 to crankshaft and secure it.
Loosen timing pulley nut 3.

· Use 36mm socket wrench and ring wrench for
this step.
· When loosening nut 3 of timing pulley 1,
hold cam shaft pulley 2 to prevent it from
being turned.
· Keep timing belt 5 engaged as a means of
precaution.
Crank Shaft Holder 4 :
P/N. 3BJ-72815-0

Remove engine hanger.
Remove timing belt 5 from cam shaft pulley 2 side, and

then, from timing pulley side.
Do not turn timing pulley (crank shaft) or cam shaft
pulley with timing belt removed. Doing so can make
pistons and valves interfere with each other,
possibly resulting in damages to these parts.
