Cautions for installing a memory module
The supported maximum capacity of this server is 8GB. However, it varies depending on OS to be
installed. Furthermore, since the server uses part of memory as PCI resources, the maximum available
capacity has limitation.
The table below describes maximum installable memory capacity and available memory capacity.

*1: PCI resources decrease unless the following are performed. Apply Service Pack 1, and start up BIOS Setup
Utility to configure settings as follows; select the [Advanced] menu – the [Advanced System Configuration]
submenu – [NX Memory Protection], and set it to [Enabled].
Available memory capacity varies depending on how many and what type of cards are installed.
LAN cable
Connect a LAN cable to the server that is disconnected from the Internet.
Security problems may occur if you access the Internet during setup operation. Do not access the
Internet until the setup completes.
When the OS installation and/or automatic installation of an application are performed without
connecting the LAN cable to the LAN card, an error may be recorded in the event viewer after setup
completes.
Connect a LAN cable to LAN card after Service Pack 2 is applied when:
• Performing a half-duplex connection with 10 Mbps
®
• Installing Intel
When OS installation is performed with ServerStart to the server, Intel
installed.

2.1.2 Hardware Settings

Before starting installation of the OS, modify the settings of BIOS Setup Utility as necessary.
BIOS Setup Utility
BIOS Setup Utility must be set in the following cases. For details on how to set BIOS Setup Utility, refer
to "8.2 BIOS Setup Utility" ( pg.149).
Changing drives to boot
To change drives to boot, start up BIOS Setup Utility, and change the boot drive on Boot Menu. For how
to setup boot drive, refer to "8.2.4 Boot Options Submenu" ( pg.154).
