CAUTION:
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the
electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To
remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the
power source.
Attention:

• If applicable, remove the security bezel. See
• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See

Procedure
Step 1.
Make preparation for this task.
a.
Remove the top cover. See
b.
Remove all the PCIe assemblies. If the configuration comes with PCIe riser 2 and internal
drives, remove all the internal drives, and lift the internal drive backplane before removing PCIe
riser 2. See
c.
Remove the processor air baffle. See
d.
Remove all the fan modules. See
Step 2.
Remove the fan cage.
a.
Loosen the two thumbscrews on the sides of the fan cage.
b.
Lift the fan cage up until the guide pin on the chassis is seated in the large opening of the
guiding slot on fan cage.
c.
Move the cage forward and remove it from the chassis.
