The IPCM specific parameters include a device capacity parameter that limits the
number of IP Phones that can be provisioned in a given domain. Default device
properties (for IP Phones) are assigned for each domain by provisioning them in
the Domain Details window.
Special provisioning is not required for users; however, each IP Phone must be
provisioned by one of the following methods:

Adding an IPCM cluster

An IPCM cluster defines a set of assigned domains and subdomains for a set of
physical IPCMs and the activation key for each domain or subdomain. The
activation key is used by the IPCM during the autoprovisioning process to provide
a set of default device parameters. Adding an IPCM cluster initiates the
assignment of domains or subdomains to a common IPCM cluster by first
assigning a name to the cluster and then assigning individual domains or
subdomains and a corresponding activation key to the cluster.
NN42020-105 MCS 5100 Release 4.0 Standard 01.06 November 2007
Default device properties must be assigned for each domain.
Note: There can be variations in the time it takes for provisioning
changes to take effect.
Provision each individual IP Phone using the Provisioning Client.
Configure default device properties for a domain, assign an activation key to
the domain, and then use the IPCM to autoprovision each IP Phone whenever
a user enters the desired activation key. See IP Client Manager Fundamentals
(NN42020-106), IP Phone 2002 User Guide (NN42020-126), IP Phone 2004
User Guide (NN42020-103), or IP Phone 2007 User Guide (NN42020-104)
for more information.
Tip: Normally, the IPCM is deployed prior to provisioning the IPCM.
However, you must still assign domains to the IPCM cluster and to
assign a provisioned device capacity for the domain. If the IPCM is
deployed, see
"Assigning and modifying domains to an IPCM" on
page
129." If the IPCM is not deployed, and it is desired to preprovision
the IPCM, see
"Adding an IPCM cluster" on page
128."
