Password policy and domains

A password policy is not enforceable on subscribers until it is associated with a
domain. When a password policy is associated with a domain, all subscribers in
that domain must conform to that password policy. When you create a password
policy, you can either select the policy during the creation of a domain or update a
domain and select the policy to use.

Change a password policy domain association

You can explicitly identify a password policy association when creating a new
domain. You can change the password policy of a domain through the domain
modification process. If you do not select a password policy for an existing
domain, the domain is given the default password policy.
NN42020-105 MCS 5100 Release 4.0 Standard 01.06 November 2007
If a domain is assigned the deleted policy, it returns to the default password
policy. If the password policy targeted for deletion is associated with a
Domain, the deletion request displays an error message.
Note: Deletion of the reserved Existing password policy is not permitted.
You cannot delete a policy if it is assigned to a domain. In cases of
upgrades from 2.0 to 3.0, all the domains are given the existing policy.
Enter a valid admin password in the confirmation window to delete the
password policy, or click Cancel.
