911 Emergency Notification

This section describes how to configure 911 emergency notification using the
Provisioning Client and the Personal Agent.
This section includes the following topics:

911 emergency notification terms and concepts

The Session Manager supports sending Instant Message (IM) notifications to a
specified On Site Notification (OSN) subscriber whenever a user makes a call to
an emergency number such as 911. This service is provided by using the same
mechanism that permits users to push Web pages or email links back to the
originator of a call.
A Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) is an agency or group of agencies
designated and authorized to receive and respond to 911 emergency calls
requiring one or more public services: Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Service,
or all three.
The OSN is required so that the OSN staff can prepare for the arrival of the
emergency response team and direct them to the location of the 911 caller when
they arrive on site.
Note: You must have telephony routing and domain management
provisioning rights to perform the tasks in this section.
