Creating a Routability Group

A routability group is the network topology of the end user's service area. The
group consists of the locations that describe the geography that is served and the
network topology that connects them. That network has firewalls and NAT
devices spread throughout, so some of those locations route clearly to others, and
some do not. Those that can route clearly to each other can be placed in a
routability group. Because they can route clearly (no NAT devices, no firewalls),
a portal is not required. Some examination and understanding of the service
network is required to create a routability group.

Creating a new collection of routable locations

To create a collection of routable locations
1
2
Select Media Portal > Add Routability Group.
The Create Routability Group page appears.
Specify a unique Routability Group Name (Optional: select any Foreign
Domains) that is intended to be members of this group. The actions performed
at this stage are as follows:
a
Specify a unique Group Name - This string uniquely identifies this
collection of routable locations. Each Group contains a set of locations
that can route packets between each other.
b Select the Foreign Domains that are to be members of this group. Select a
single Foreign Domain in the list, or Shift+click a continuous range of
Foreign Domains from the list, or Ctrl+click multiple separate Foreign
Domains from the list.
c
Specify the Zone ID in the Zone ID field. The Session Manager uses this
field for processing SIP Lines calls to determine if a Media Portal is
required for the call.
d When a Group Name is specified and the set of Foreign Domains
selected, click Next (or Cancel to abandon the creation request and to
return to the List Routability Groups page). The Routability Group is now
created.
A page appears saying that the new Routability Group is added.
