The fields in Menu 23.2 - System Security - External Server are listed in
Table 8-3.
System Security - External Server Fields
Field
Description
Active
Enables or disables the external security facility.
• If No, only the built-in dial-up user list is used.
• If Yes, the built-in dial-up user list is searched first, then the
external authentication server.
Type
Determines the type of the external authentication server.
At present only RADIUS is supported.
Server Address
The IP address of the RADIUS server.
Port #
The IP port number used by the authentication server. The default
is port 1645.
Key
A password used for authentication between the router and the
RADIUS server.
The router contacts the RADIUS server to authenticate all users not found in the internal dial-up
user list in Menu 14.

The Key Field

The key, or password, must match that in the client file in the RADIUS server's /etc/raddb
directory, as shown in the following example:

Adding Users to the RADIUS Database

To add a user to the RADIUS database:
Edit the /users file in the RADIUS servers /etc/raddb directory, and add a line similar
to the following example:
jsmith Password = joe5678
