Analog Input EQ Tab

The channel equalizer has four fully parametric bands. In addition, the two outside bands may be converted
from parametric to shelving. A window displays the composite EQ curve of all four bands overlaid with the
HPF and LFP curves. The built-in Smaart analyzer can be used to display either an RTA or Spectrograph view
behind the displayed EQ curve.
The EQUALIZER IN button switches all four bands of the EQ in or out, duplicating the function of the EQ
IN button on the overview screen. Although the HPF and LPF are part of the equalizer screen, they switch
In/Out independently and are unaffected by the global Equalizer In state.
A toggle switch at the right side selects between Full Range EQ or Traditional EQ styles.
This is a global switch and affects the operation of all channel EQs on the console.
In Traditional mode, the four bands are labeled LOW, LOW MID, HIGH MID, and HIGH. Accordingly, the
bands are limited in range (with overlap) like most equalizers of this type. These ranges are as follows:
Low = 20 Hz to 400 Hz
Low Mid =100 Hz to 2.0 kHz
High Mid = 400 Hz to 8.0 kHz
High = 1.0 kHz to 20.0 kHz
In Full Range mode, the four bands are numbered, Band 1, Band 2, Band 3, and Band 4. Each band has a
frequency range covering the entire audio frequency range from 20 Hz-20 kHz. In use, the bands can occur
in any order; band 4 could be set to 100 Hz and band 1 set to 12 kHz.
Note: Changing EQ modes has no audible effect on the channel. If you are changing from Full Range to Tra-
ditional, and one or more of the bands are outside of the Traditional frequency range, they will not be range
limited until you manually move them into the limited range. This applies to EQ changes made by snapshot
recall as well.
Although the mode can only be changed on the touchscreen, it affects the operation of the EQ section of
the Selected Channel on the control surface (see Section 9.5).
In fully parametric mode, each of the four bands has adjustable gain, frequency, and Q (bandwidth). Bands 1
and 4 can be independently switched to shelving bands using the switches on the right side of the window.
The shelves have adjustable gain and frequency, which is the –3 dB point from the shelf.
