Chapter 12: Touchscreen Interface

The console can be controlled entirely from the touchscreen and Intelligent Encoder. This color LCD display
accesses every part of the console's components. It provides a quick overview of what is happening in a way
that an analog console just can't do. Being touch-sensitive, the touchscreen provides a natural and intui-
tive means of navigating through the parts of the console. More than that, it is a fast means of navigating, a
decided plus when you need to access something quickly under the pressures of a live show.
Usually, the touchscreen follows the SELECT button so that the Selected Channel appears on the touch-
screen as well as being accessible on the physical control surface. You can alter this relationship, via the
touchscreen, by going to Setup>General (Screen Follows Selected Channel).
To use the touchscreen, just touch the visual element that you wish to adjust. If it is a button or switch,
touching it changes its state. If it is a knob or fader then it will be selected, indicated by a yellow surrounding
highlight, and you use the Intelligent Encoder to change its setting. You can use your fingertip to touch the
screen or you can use the provided stylus. Some visual elements (like the equalizer and compressor graphs)
also allow dragging, but it's more precise to touch and spin for adjustment. A USB mouse can be connected
and used for clicking on items as well.

Navigation

Navigating through the touchscreen system consists of selecting a part of the console using the navigation
buttons located across the bottom of the touchscreen. These buttons access major subsections of the con-
sole. Subdivisions for each navigation button are accessed using the tabs across the top of the touchscreen.
