snake box, then the Routing>Input Routing tab lets you have it your way. Remember that the routing as-
signments are part of a snapshot, so it's not a problem if you like the channels starting with drums and bass,
but the guest engineer likes the channels starting with the vocals. Routing is described in detail in Section 12.8.

Output Channel to Physical Output Routing

Similar to the input channel routing, the output routing section lets you assign any of the output channels to
any of the console's physical outputs. Use the Routing>Output Routing tab to do this. By default, all output
channels are routed to the physical outputs of the same name.

Inserts

At the channel level, there are both analog and digital insert points. The analog insert jacks come right after
the mic preamp; the signal is still in the analog domain. The send jack is half-normalled to the return jack, so
it can be used as a pre-everything direct output in addition to its more traditional role of the insert send jack.
In addition to the analog channel inserts, the main and aux/group buses have analog insert jacks that can be
switched into the channel's signal chain as needed.
Additional information on the inserts can be found in Section 12.2.9.

Aux/Group Busing

The UMX.96 uses a shared aux/group system. There are 24 aux/group buses; you get to decide how they're
apportioned. They are inherently mono, but two adjacent buses can be stereo linked. However you choose
to configure them — aux/group, mono, stereo — the sum can't exceed 24. Configure the aux/group buses
from the touchscreen by pressing Aux/Group at the bottom of the screen or via the AUX or GROUP button
on the aux/group overview screen.
If a bus is designated as an aux, then it has a send level control on each channel, and the signal can be sent
from a channel pre-DSP, post-DSP, or post-fader. If two aux buses are stereo linked, the pair are controlled by
a stereo send level and pan. An aux bus ends at the group/aux outputs on the rear panel; it can't be assigned
to the main mix.
