The large knob in the central mix area is referred to as the "Intelligent Encoder. " The Intelligent Encoder's
tactile feel changes according to its usage. It can have a smooth feel, a detented (click-stepped) feel, it may
resist movement or it may spin freely, it may have rotational limits or it may have none. You adjust the Intel-
ligent Encoder.
The Touchscreen is a new interface to many audio engineers that requires some new terminology.
• "Touch" describes making a selection on the Touchscreen by touching the item (e.g., Touch the EQ but-
ton). Touch can also mean the same as "Enable" since the touchscreen also has virtual buttons on its
surface.
• "Touch and Spin" pertains to items In the touchscreen area of the console. You touch the item and adjust
it using the Intelligent Encoder.

Notes, Cautions, Warnings, Examples

A note is just that, a note to you, an aside, some helpful information.
Note: There is a hole at the right-hand side of the touchscreen where you can store the stylus for easy acces-
sibility during use. Remember to store it for transport before closing the console's road case.
Caution is used for information that, if not heeded, may result in damage to the equipment.
Caution: Many musical instrument devices can't tolerate phantom power fed to their outputs. It is prudent
to not apply phantom power to one of these devices unless you know for sure that it is phantom power
tolerant.
Warning is used for information that, if not heeded, may create a dangerous situation for the operator or
other personnel.
Warning: Do not float the ground on any equipment in your sound system. It is a safety hazard to do so.
An Example provides specific instructions on how to perform a certain task.
Example: The console is in Aux Mode, and Aux Channel Assign button 11 has been pressed. The fader banks
now control the levels for aux send 11.
