12.2.17.5 Ping Pong Delay

The ping pong delay works the same as the stereo delay, with the exception that the feedback is routed to
the opposite channel, producing a bouncing sound as the delayed signal bounces from left to right. It has
the same controls as the stereo delay described previously.

12.2.17.6 Chorus

The chorus effect simulates the sound of more than one instrument or voice playing the same passage.
When two people play the same part in unison, they are never exactly the same. There are differences in tim-
ing and pitch, which you can vary with the following controls:
Pre Delay: This sets the amount of delay applied to the chorused signal. The shorter the delay, the closer the
chorus effect will be to the original signal. Useful starting delay times for a chorus range from 25 to 50 ms.
Mode: There are eight modes from which to choose. Modes 1a and 1b apply one chorus voice, 2a and 2b apply
two chorus voices, 3a and 3b apply three chorus voices, and 4a and 4b apply four chorus voices. The difference
between the a and b settings relates to the phase at which the LFO Wave is applied to the various voices.
Depth: The depth control adjusts how much the delay of the chorused signal changes over time by the
LFO Speed control. For example, if the Pre Delay is set to 50 ms, and the Depth is set to 10 ms, the chorused
signal has a variable delay ranging from 50 ms to 60 ms. The Depth control also affects the pitch of the cho-
rused signal; the more depth that is applied, the more pitch modulation.
LFO Speed: This control adjusts the rate at which the delay applied to the chorused signal varies, ranging
from 0.05 Hz to 5 Hz.
LFO Wave: The LFO Wave control changes the shape of how the variable delay is applied; sine, triangle, or
random.
EFX EQ IN: This button turns the three-band equalizer for the chorus effect on and off. When the EQ is on,
you can drag the nodes in the EQ window and adjust the parameters of the EQ; Gain, Frequency, and Q
(Band 2 only), or touch the EDIT EQUALIZER button to gain access to the EQ controls.
