Chapter 9: The Selected Channel

The Selected Channel provides complete functionality for one channel of the console at a time. This en-
hanced control area provides the assortment of controls and displays normally found on an analog console
channel strip. Think of the Selected Channel as the inverse of the Channel Assign section described previ-
ously in Section 8.2. Channel Assign lets you choose a single parameter to adjust on all channels at the same
time (e.g., Gain Pad, Aux 1, HPF) while the Selected Channel lets you adjust all the parameters for a single
channel at the same time.
Press the SELECT button for the channel you want under control by the Selected Channel. The Channel Select
Left and Right arrow buttons located above the equalizer section in the Selected Channel allow you to move
the selected channel to the next or previous channel and the
four-character read-out shows you the short name of the cur-
rently selected channel.
You can also configure the console for Selected Channel assignment via a fader touch or when the chan-
nel is soloed by enabling Select Follows Fader or Select Follows Solo from the the touchscreen via
Setup>General.
In the default mode, the console's touchscreen follows the selected channel as well. This can be disabled
thus making the touchscreen able to control a different channel than the Selected Channel by disabling
Screen Follows Select from Setup>General. See Section 12.10.2.
The Selected Channel has five main areas of controls:
• Aux/Groups
• Effects
• Gate/Compressor
• Preamplifier
• Equalizer
