2. Clean ice, snow and dirt from the track and suspension.
3. Attach a spring scale to the track at approximately the
middle of the track slider (Figure 19). Pull the scale to de-
flect the track away from the slider shoe until a force of 10
kg. (22 lbs.) is indicated by the scale.
4. Measure the distance between the slider shoe and the
inside of the track. Specified track deflection is 25-30 mm
If the measured deflection is incorrect, adjust track ten-
sion as follows:

a. Loosen the rear axle Iocknuts (Figure

same amount to adjust the track tension.
d. Recheck the adjustment as described in Step 3 and
Step 4.
6. Check track aiigment as follows after setting the track
tension.
Track alignment is related to track tension and should
be checked and adjusted when the tension is checked and
adjusted. If the track is misaligned, the rear idler wheels,
drive sprocket lugs and track lugs will wear rapidiy. Be-
cause of resistance between the track and the sides the
wheels, performance will be greatly reduced.

2. Position the machine on its skis so the ski tips are
against a wall or other immovable barrier. Elevate and
support the machine so the track is completely clear of the
ground and free to rotate.
