1. Park the snowmobile on a level surface.
2. Open the shroud.
3. Place an old carpet scrap or several shop cloths under
the chainrase drain plug to absorb spilled oil.

7. Insert a funnel into the dipstick hole and fill the chain
housing with the correct type (Table 4) and quantity (Ta-
ble 5) of chaincase oil.
8. Check the oil level as described in the previous proce-

Steering Spindle
Lubricate the steering spindles seasonally or every
2000 miles with a low-temperature grease. If operating
the snowmobile under severe conditions or in wet snow,
perform lubrication more frequently. Locate the grease
fitting on the spindle housing (Figure
fitting with a clean shop cloth to remove all traces of dirt.
Fit the end of a hand-operated grcase gun onto the grcase
fitting and pump grease into the spindle until it is forced
from the top m d o r bottom of the spindle housing. Re-
move the grease gun from the nippie and wipe the excess
grease from the fitting and spindle, Repeat the procedure
for the spindle on the other side of the snowmobile.
Slide Suspension
Lubricate tbe slide suspension seasonally or every 2000
miles with a low-tempemwe grease at each of the grease
fittings shown in Figure 6. If operating the sno\vmobile
under severe conditions or in wet snow, lubricate the fit-
tings more ofien.
