3. Check the sheave drive belt surfaces for rubber or sust
buildup. For proper operation, the sheave surfaces must
be clean. Remove mbber or rust debris with a coarse grade

damage.
5. The ramp shoes (Figure 45) on the fixed sheave half
provide a sliding surface between the fixed sheave half
and spring scat. Because the pads arc rubbing against alu-
minum, wear is normally minimal, Howcver, if any ramp
pad is gouged or damaged, install new pads. Replace the
pads if any pad is worn to a thickness (Figure 46) less
than 1 .O mm (0.04 in. j.
