TROUBLESHOOTING
Drive Clutch Engages Before Engagement RPM
1. Worn spring.
2. Incorrect weight.
Drive Clutch Engages After Engagement RPM
1. Incorrect spring.
2. Worn or damaged secondary sheave buttons.
Erratic Shifting
1. Worn rollers and bushings.
2. Scuffed or damaged weights.
3. Dirty primary sheave assembly.
4. Worn or damaged secondary sheave buttons.
Engine Bogs During Engagement
1. Incorrect secondary sheave width adjustment.
2. Drive belt worn too thin.
3. Incorrect sheave distance.
Primary or Secondary Sheave Sticks
3. Dirty sheave assembly.

SKIS AND STEERING

Refer to the following list when troubleshooting ski and
steering problems. Some possible causes are listed below
each malfunction.
Loose Steering
1. Loose steering post bearing.
2. Loose steering post or steering column fasteners.
3. Loose tie rod ends.
Ignition coil
Primary resistance
Secondary resistance
Pickup coil
Source coil
Brown to blacwred wires

2700-3700 ohms

4. Worn spindle bushings.
5. Stripped spindle splines.
Unequal Steering

Rapid Ski Wear
1. Skis misaligned.
2. Worn out ski wear rods (skags).

TRACK ASSEMBLY

shoot track assembly malfunctions. Also refer to Track
Wear Analysis in this chapter.
Frayed Track Edge
1. Incorrect track alignment.
2. Track contacts tunnel area.
Track Grooved on Inner Surface
Track too tight.
2. Frozen rear idler shaft bearing.
Track Drive Ratcheting
1. Track too loose.
2. Drive sprockets misaligned.
3. Damaged drive sprockets.
Rear Idlers Turning on Shaft
Frozen rear idler shaft bearings.
