10.3 INITIAL SOFTWARE AND CONFIGURATION OVERVIEW

The steps listed below describe the software and configuration upload that took place at the time of the
initial installation as explained in the G1000 installation manual.
1. Software is first loaded to the MFD and then the PFD. G1000 systems do not contain any usable
software or configuration files from the factory.
2. After software is loaded to the MFD and PFD, the following configuration files can be loaded:
AIRFRAME
MANIFEST
SYSTEM
MFD
PFD
3. The PFD and MFD can now communicate with GIA1 and GIA2. This allows the GIA software to
be loaded.
4. After loading the GIA software, GIA configuration settings are loaded. Configuration enables the
GIAs to communicate with the other LRUs in order to be able to load LRU software and
configuration settings.
5. The GIAs can now communicate to the individual LRUs. The following software can be loaded:
GMA
GDC
GRS
GMU
GTX
GEA
GFC
6. After all of the software is loaded, the final LRU configuration settings can be loaded. These
include:
GMA
GTX
GEA
GDC
GDL
GWX
