General Studding Guidelines:
All studding information for snowmobiles listed below assumes the installer is using Polaris/Woody's Traction
Products. If installing studs from other traction product manufacturers, please consult them prior to installation.

• Optimal stud penetration range is .250"-.375" (6.35-9.52 mm).
• DO NOT EXCEED .375" (9.52 mm) STUD PENETRATION ON ANY TRACK.
• Studs can be installed on the inner and outer track rows. Studding the inside of the track is good for improving
traction and vehicle braking. Adding studs to the outer rows is generally considered for drivers who desire a high
degree of traction, but can sacrifice track durability. Studs placed on the outer rows are more susceptible to being
ripped out of the track.
• Polaris does not recommend studs on the outside band of the Storm 150 track. Damage will occur.
• Adding studs may require the use of longer, more aggressive ski wear bars/carbides.
• Consult stud manufacturer for more information and recommendations.
• Polaris recommends maintaining track tension on tight side of the specification for all studded tracks.
STUD PROTECTION
The Matryx chassis requires a stud protection kit to be installed, otherwise chassis damage will occur. This stud
protection kit will protect against chassis damage with the following track/stud combinations.

• 1.325 in Polaris/Woody's® studs installed in a Ripsaw II 1.25 in or Cobra 1.352 in track .
• 1.575 in Polaris/Woody's® studs installed in a Storm 150 track, center band only.
