RECOIL HOUSING REMOVAL

1. Pull a length of rope out of the recoil housing. Tie a
knot in the rope to prevent the rope from retracting
into the housing. Cut the recoil rope at the handle and
pass the rope through the console.

2. Remove the fasteners
securing the recoil housing
to the engine.
NOTICE
w
The coolant hose support
recoil housing fasteners. Note the location of the hose
support for installation.

3. Remove the housing
from the engine and move to
work bench.
NOTICE
If the recoil assembly is severely damaged, consider
replacing the complete recoil housing assembly as a
service part. The new service part assembly is
completely assembled with the rope.

RECOIL HOUSING DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove the recoil housing. See Recoil Housing
Removal page 3.103.
2. Untie the provisional knot made during recoil housing
removal. Allow the recoil hub to SLOWLY rewind.

3. Remove the screw
and washer
4. Remove the rope guide from the housing.
5. Carefully remove the friction plate

from the reel.
